Smokey start to the weekend, advisory may be issued
LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Nebraskans may see a smokey start to the weekend due to prescribed burns in Kansas and Oklahoma.
The burns are done to manage prairie and rangelands. However, depending on the wind, a moderate smoke advisory may be impacting areas of southeast and south-central Nebraska.
The advisory would begin Friday at 7 p.m. and last until Saturday at 10 a.m. York, Lincoln, Beatrice, Omaha, Columbus, and surrounding areas will likely be affected.
During moderate smoke conditions, sensitive groups should limit outdoor work or exercise.
