Soggy start to Friday with a cool and dry ending 9/17/2021

A line of showers and thunderstorms is marching to the southeast along a cold front this morning. The Tri-Cities will see rain close to 5 AM, while the Lincoln area will see rain closer to sunrise. Some of the storms contain strong wind gusts and a lot of lightning. Temperatures are currently in the 60s and 70s and that’s likely where we will stay for most of the day. Once the front moves through after sunrise, temperatures will briefly drop into the 60s for most of us before they gradually try to warm back into the low 70s during the afternoon. Wind gusts up to 25 mph are also likely today with conditions drying out as we head into the evening. Some of us could even see some sunshine by the evening! Summer temperatures in the 80s and 90s return by the weekend before we cool back into the 70s next week.
