Stolen car found submerged in Holmes Lake, Lincoln Police say

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – A stolen vehicle was found underwater at Holmes Lake on Sunday, Lincoln Police say.

Just before 12:30 p.m., officers were sent to the north shore of Holmes Lake after someone reported seeing a Ford Explorer submerged near the dam.

Crews pulled the vehicle out of the water and took it to the city impound.

Officers found that the vehicle had been stolen at a gas station near 66th and Holdrege Streets on Nov. 21.

A 41-year-old woman had left the vehicle running as she went inside.  When she came back outside, the car was gone, according to police.

Police estimate the car was valued at around $10,000.
