Severe Weather Potential:

The potential for severe weather returns on Sunday afternoon, with numerous severe storms possible for portions of south-central and southeast Nebraska.

• Marginal Risk (Green, Level 1 out of 5): Isolated severe storms are possible north and west of a line from McCook towards Columbus.
• Slight Risk (Yellow, Level 2 out of 5): Scattered severe storms are possible, including Lincoln, Omaha and the Tri-Cities
• Enhanced Risk (Orange, Level 3 out of 5): Numerous severe storms are possible in far south-central and southeast Nebraska, including the city of Beatrice.

Above is a breakdown of the specific severe weather hazards in place for Sunday afternoon and evening. Isolated tornadoes, golf ball-sized hail or larger, and 65-75 mile per hour wind gusts could occur in the strongest storms.

Forecast:

Lows Saturday night into Sunday will range from the 30s out west to the 40s and 50s in southeast Nebraska.

Highs, despite storm chances, will be in the 60s and 70s in eastern Nebraska. Afternoon temperatures in central and western Nebraska will be a bit cooler.

Storm chances continue into the day, with small chances of precipitation continuing through the middle of the work week. The sun looks to return just in time for the start of May, with highs returning to the 70s.
