Last night’s smoke smell from large grass fire in Kansas
Life-threatening grass fire in Kansas spreads smoke and ash through Nebraska and neighboring states.
LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – UPDATE: Throughout the Midwest, air quality was marked as unhealthy as smoke, dust, and ash filled the air. National Weather Service of Wichita confirms the smell of smoky air last night was due to a large life-threatening grass fire.
Video from KAKE News in Kansas shows the spreading fire damaging homes in the area.
Dozens of reports of smoke, ash, and smog are coming in through the past hour.
According to officials, the smoke is being smelled across the entirety of Lincoln, Crete, and through Odel.
It is believed that the smoke is coming from fires in Kansas. An investigation is ongoing to ensure the source of the fire is not in Nebraska.
