Student teacher at Kearney Public Schools accused of sexually assaulting student
LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — A Kearney Public Schools student teacher is behind bars after police say he sexually assaulted a student.
The Kearney Police Department on Saturday was made aware of a possible sexual relationship between a student teacher and a student at Kearney High School.
The incident did not happen on school grounds, nor did it happen during school hours, according to the City of Kearney.
After an investigation, an arrest warrant was issued for 23-year-old KeyShaun VanDyke.
Officials say VanDyke was arrested on suspicion of first-degree sexual assault. He is lodged at the Buffalo County Jail.
