Students and alum react to released Husker Football Schedule
With the Husker football season schedule finally being released, Channel 8 asks some students and alumni how they feel about it and how they are going to be supporting the Huskers this season.
LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN)- With the Husker football season schedule finally being released, Channel 8 asks some students and alumni how they feel about it and how they are going to be supporting the Huskers this season.
“I mean, we were so pumped to have football this season,” said Morgan Takiguchi, a UNL freshman. “Kind of sucks, we don’t get to go (physically), but still, we got something to do.”
The Big Ten Conference announced its 2020 football schedule on Saturday morning, outlining Nebraska’s eight-game regular-season slate.
A father was against it at first, but after hearing the safety precautions, he is excited to see the team play.
“My initial reaction, I was a little worried due to the virus and I didn’t want any of the students to get involved and catch anything,” said Brandon Bryant. “But then I did a little research and found out that only the friends and family of the team players would be there and it will be televised. “I feel a little better after that.”
I asked the fans how they plan to watch.
“Definitely the tailgates,” adds Bryant. “We’ll shorten it down to immediate family, not as many friends, and hopefully have a good turnout.”
“My family’s from Omaha, Husker football is literally a huge thing at our house,” said Mackenzie Elliot, a UNL freshman. “We have Husker football game parties all the time, so my family’s just so excited. I called them up right away when I found out.”
All Big Ten teams will play eight games, including four home games and four on the road, with the first two being away.
But fans said no matter where, they’ll be cheering.
