Students, driver escape before bus goes up in flames

Quick thinking by a school bus driver saved more than a half dozen Hayes Center students before a bus went up in flames.

Superintendent Tony Primavera told our partners NTV News that the driver smelled something burning Monday after school and got all seven kids on board into a nearby house.

The bus then caught fire and was totaled.

Primavera thanked both the driver and volunteer firefighters for their efforts to keep the kids safe.
