STUDY: Are you concerned about your teenagers relationship with social media?
CHICAGO (KLKN) — New studies show nearly 70 percent of parents are concerned their teen is addicted to social media.
The Children’s Hospital of Chicago recently polled about 3,000 current or recent parents of teenagers, asking what their concerns and challenges are with social media.
Their main findings?
- Nearly 60 percent of parents think social media has a net negative effect on their teens.
- Almost 70 percent believe social media affects their teen’s ability to socialize normally and 67% have felt concerned their teen is addicted to social media.
- Over 60 percent of parents report their teens’ use of social media has increased during the pandemic, though more parents (45%) are appreciative of social media during the crisis than those who are increasingly concerned about it (39%).
