STUDY: COVID vaccines safe for pregnant, lactating women

Pregnancy, covid-19 vaccine

Mass. (CNN) — A new study found COVID-19 vaccines are effective and safe for pregnant and lactating women.

Researchers studied 131 women who received the Pfizer or Moderna vaccine. Among them, 115 were pregnant or lactating.

According to the study, the participants had the same vaccine-induced antibody levels as non-pregnant women. Protective antibodies were also passed to their newborns.

No evidence of more intense side effects being experienced in pregnant and lactating women was found. Researchers say additional studies still need to be done to understand just how long these antibodies last.
