Suspect returns to bar hours after stealing cash

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – At 11:30 am on January 6th, officers responded to a call from Shotguns Bar after the owner discovered the business had been burglarized overnight.

A manager of the business came to work around 9:00 a.m. to find 43-year-old Ryan Wiess leaving the bar.

According to Lincoln Police Department, no signs of forced entry were found, however, a further inspection determined an undisclosed amount of currency was missing from the business.

The owner and manager believed an alcohol delivery company may have accidentally left entry keys in the door lock when they delivered alcohol to the bar on January 5th.

After analysis of video surveillance footage, Wiess was shown inside the business leaving with a handful of cash.

Just after 8:15 p.m. on January 6th, the owner of the bar recontacted the police to notify them Wiess was standing in front of the bar.

LPD located Wiess was found in the area wearing the same clothing observed on video surveillance, he was placed under arrest shortly after officers arrived on the scene.

A search of his person yielded most of the stolen currency and a key to the front door of the bar.  Wiess was arrested for Burglary.
