UPDATE: Suspicious item occupies Lincoln police, firefighters for several hours

Drivers may have noticed a lot of action going on around 20th and O streets Thursday afternoon.

A car inside the Union Bank parking lot was pulled over around 4 p.m.

Police got a call that the man driving it may have mental issues.  The officer who pulled him over was concerned about a bag in the car with wires in it.

That’s when Lincoln Fire and Rescue was called in.  Investigators brought in their special bomb tech robots.

They did evacuate the bank and a couple of nearby businesses as a precaution and shut down part of P St.

After more than 3 hours, it was determined the item was part of a radio with cut wires.

It did not contain any explosive or hazardous material.

The man was taken into emergency protective custody.

Officials say the incident was another good example of collaboration between Lincoln Police and Lincoln Fire & Rescue.
