The Nebraska Working People Party submitted signature petitions, sparking debate
LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — The Nebraska Working People Party submitted signatures to appear on the ballot yesterday. The Nebraska Democratic Party (NDP) said they suspect the party’s legitimacy.
“This isn’t a party – it’s a grievance project bankrolled by right-wing money, just like the Ricketts-backed tricks we saw in the primary,” said Jane Kleeb, NDP Chair and ASDC President. “Nebraska is fighting to end corrupt one-party Republican rule, and these sore losers would rather cash a billionaire’s check than put their egos aside and help protect democracy for all. They should frame that check right next to this project’s real name: the Working for Ricketts Party.”
When reports of petitioners had arose last month, the NDP urged people to not sign the petition. Kleeb said the only reason to launch a new party this late was to ‘divide the vote and create chaos’.
In a social media post, the Nebraska Working People Party said they are focused on bettering the community. This includes things like lowering costs of goods and making healthcare affordable.
