Thief asked man for ride in north Lincoln before stealing car, police say

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – A driver had his car stolen Wednesday afternoon after he gave a man a ride in north Lincoln, police say.

Around 1:45 p.m., a 51-year-old man was driving near 33rd and Holdrege Streets when an unknown man jumped in front of his car.

He then told the driver that he needed a ride and got into the car, according to police.

Once the driver arrived at a parking lot near 33rd Street and Huntington Avenue, the man hit him “multiple times” and forced him out of the vehicle, police say.

The man then drove off with the victim’s vehicle, a 2002 black Lexus GS300.

Police say the victim was not injured.
