Thursday to feel more like January

Early on in the morning Thursday, the Lincoln Airport was seeing gusts up to 40 mph. That has made for quite the breezy morning! Stronger winds out of the north northwest will continue throughout the afternoon on Wednesday as the low-pressure system moves on. We’ll feel impacts through this evening before winds calm and temperatures slightly warm on Friday.

But factoring in the wind speeds for what it’ll feel like on Thursday, wind chills will be in the teens for a majority of the day. This is what we should be feeling on a normal January afternoon.

High temperatures will not warm up much from the morning hours with mostly cloudy conditions. The cloud cover and wind will only allow daytime highs to reach the lower 30s for most of us. Winds could gust anywhere from about 25-35 mph from the morning into the later afternoon hours.

Looking past Thursday though, we will remain dry, and temperatures will be warm once again! By Saturday, we’ll likely be back into the 50s and end the week similarly to how we started this week. Have no fear, warmer weather will be here!

And by Martin Luther King Jr. Day on Monday, showers are possible late Sunday into the early morning hours of Monday. With that, a couple snow chances appear in the forecast long term… as winter is not yet over. A more active pattern to watch out for coming up next week.
