With widespread use of face masks during the COVID-19 pandemic, many people have run into a problem – their glasses get foggy.
Tom Conrad, co-owner of Heartland Optical in Lincoln, says, unfortunately, there’s no magic solution.
While the internet is full of articles claiming to have a way to fix the problem, Conrad says some of those so-called solutions can actually damage your glasses. One of the most popular suggests people wash their glasses in soapy water. While it may provide a temporary fix, Conrad says doing so can actually strip the fibers off your lenses.
His alternative? Tissue paper and tape.
Conrad says you can take a piece of tissue paper, fold it, and place it near the top of your mask to create a seal. Additionally, you can use put a piece of surgical tape or other type of tape across your nose so that it seals your breath and prevents it from going upward into your lenses.
