Nebraska toddler abused by newly captured fugitive remains hospitalized, police say

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — A one-year-old girl, who was so badly abused she needed to be flown to Children’s Hospital in Omaha, is still undergoing treatment.

The Kearney Police Department gave the update on Friday after announcing her suspected abuser was finally captured.

Jacob Ellingson, 24, had been on the run since Sunday.  Police said additional details on the one-year-old’s condition will not be released at this time.

An investigation is ongoing, and officers are continuing to work with the family, doctors and health services.
