Tominaga drops 30 as Nebraska upsets Penn State
LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Nebraska men’s basketball upset Penn State at Pinnacle Bank Arena 72-63 on Sunday.
Junior guard Keisei Tominaga finished with a career-high 30 points; the most by a Husker since December 2021.
Freshman Jamarques Lawrence collected 11 points and 9 rebounds, nearly giving him a double-double in the win.
Senior Derrick Walker had a career-high in assists with 7 to go along with 9 points and 6 rebounds.
The Huskers shot 52.9 percent from the field and kept the turnovers to a season low of 7.
The Big Red carried a 37 to 28 lead heading into the second half shooing 56 percent from the field, along with going 4 of 8 from beyond the arc.
Late in the second half, Penn State got closer bringing the score to 62-58 before a Sam Griesel layup and a couple of free throws from Sam Hoiberg to push the lead to eight.
The Nittany Lions could not get closer than six the rest of the game, as Nebraska’s freshman accounted for the last eight points of the game.
On February 8th the Huskers head to Michigan for a road matchup with the Wolverines. Tipoff is set for 5:30 p.m. and the game will be broadcast on the Big Ten Network.
