Tour de Lincoln raises money for local non-profits

Thursday a charitable bike ride through Lincoln helped raise money for local non-profit’s.

Tour de Brew hosted its 6th annual event to help out the Lincoln Bike Kitchen.

Participants started at Moran’s Liquor store at 33rd and A streets, then headed to Cycle Works and finished up at the Haymarket’s Empyrean Brewing Co. warehouse.

Riders stopped at different locations, tried local brews and headed to the next pit stop.

This year the event had around 400 participants and the riders think its a great way to stay active and have fun.

“It makes you feel like you are doing something good for just having a good time and it’s a nice excuse to get out of the house on a Thursday,” said Mathew Hall. “Get together with friends and just do something a little different out of the norm rather than just having a beer at a bar.”

The event has raised $40,000 over the six years its been going on and organizers hope this year adds a chunk of change to the total.

The event had raffle giveaways, outdoor games and live music.
