UPDATE: Trailer fire leaves family without a home

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — UPDATE: A mobile home fire near N 27th and Salt Creek Roadway caused $15,000 in damage Thursday afternoon.

The home was ruled a total loss.

The blaze was caused by an overloaded circuit in the home, meaning too many things had been plugged into a power strip.

Thankfully, the residents, a mother and her baby, were able to escape the flames on their own. Two dogs were stuck inside, but Lincoln Fire and Rescue was able to find and save them.

Two dogs were rescued from a trailer home fire Thursday afternoon.

Lincoln Fire and Rescue responded to the fire around 2:30 p.m. near N 27th and Salt Creek Roadway. A mother and a child were inside, but they were able to make it out safely.

According to the Fire Chief on scene, it is unclear what caused the blaze, but it did come from inside the home.

No surrounding homes were damaged.

The fire is still under investigation.
