Trash pile fire erupts in North Downtown Omaha

OMAHA, Neb. (KLKN) – Downtown Recycling Inc. in Omaha experienced a trash fire on Tuesday, July 7. Crews were alerted around 3:30 p.m. near 14th and Grace streets.

Downtown Recycling stated that witnesses came forward saying they saw individuals throwing bottle rockets over the fence into the trash pile. They ask if anyone witnessed any more to contact proper authorities. No investigation is confirmed at this time.

No one was reported injured and Downtown Recycling has reopened today, July 8.

Downtown Recycling also thanked firefighters and everyone who volunteered, stating they worked tirelessly to get the fire under control.

In a social media post, Downtown Recycling states, “We truly appreciate this community.”
