LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – In an email sent to council members,  Twitter confirmed the disbanding of its “Trust and Safety council”.

The council advised on issues including online safety, human and digital rights, suicide prevention, mental health, child sexual exploitation, and dehumanization.

The company said it is “Reevaluating how best to bring external insights into our product and policy development work”.

And that the “trust and safety council is not the best structure to do this.”

Three members of the council resigned in protest last week.

Writing in a statement quote — “Contrary to claims by Elon Musk, the safety and well-being of twitter’s users are on the decline.”

The move comes as Musk is undoing many of the policies and practices put in place before he took over the social media company.
