Two arrested after joyride went wrong
MERRICK COUNTY, Neb. (KLKN) — Two residents of Merrick County were arrested after a Tuesday afternoon joy ride with an infant resulted in a rollover crash, Merrick County Sheriff’s Office said.
Wyatt Boroff, 19, was arrested for child abuse, driving under suspension and willful reckless driving.
Austyn Redmond, 21, was arrested for child abuse and false reporting.
A Chevrolet pickup was traveling south on 15th Road when it lost control due to reckless driving and road conditions, according to the sheriff’s office.
The pickup veered left into the center line, crossed the roadway and rolled on its top before landing in the west ditch.
Four adults and an infant child were in the vehicle at the time of the crash. All passengers were transported to Merrick Medical Center in Central City to treat minor injuries.
The sheriff’s office said seatbelts were not used during the time of the accident. The infant child was restrained by a child restraint device and is ok after the crash.
Alcohol is suspected to be a contributing factor.
