Two caught in Lincoln with stolen guns after string of robberies, sheriff’s office says
LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Two people were arrested Monday in a string of robberies that spanned Lancaster and Seward Counties, authorities say.
Between Saturday night and Sunday morning, three thefts were reported at homes in Malcolm, Chief Lancaster County Sheriff’s Deputy Ben Houchin said.
Several thefts were also reported in Milford during that time frame.
During an investigation, deputies got video from a neighbor that showed a red sedan, which had no plates, leaving the area.
In one of the Milford thefts, AirPods had been stolen. Deputies were able to track the AirPods to a Lincoln home near 24th and E Streets.
When deputies arrived, they found the red sedan parked outside. But people got into the car and drove off before a deputy could stop them, Houchin said.
On Monday, deputies were sent to the home and served a search warrant.
Inside, deputies found the AirPods, a stolen gun, meth and several other items that were reported stolen, according to Houchin.
Deputies then arrested 32-year-old Gary Winchel on suspicion of possession of meth. Houchin said he will be facing additional charges.
Later on, deputies served a search warrant at the apartment of Winchel’s girlfriend, 36-year-old Nicole Jensen.
Deputies found a stolen revolver underneath her bed and arrested her on suspicion of possessing a stolen firearm.
