The two were sentenced for robbing a Lincoln man who had been beaten to death. 18-year-old Jonathan Gollin was given 10-20 years in prison for robbing 49-year-old William Morgan. 17-year-old Johnnie Showalter was given the same sentence for aiding and abetting in the robbery. Morgan died later from injuries after being beaten at Trago Park. 18-year-old David Centamore pled guilty to manslaughter in the case. He had originally been charged with murder.
Police say in early May, Centamore and his friends, Gollin and Showalter punched and kicked Morgan and took his wallet and shoes. Police say when officers picked up Morgan at the park, he told them he had fallen down. He was taken to Cornhusker Place, but the next day Morgan died. An autopsy showed he died from blunt force trauma to the head.
A tip to police led investigators to Centamore, Gollin and Showalter. Centamore is scheduled to be sentenced for manslaughter and robbery on October 11th.
