Two men arrested after chase with officer on UNL campus, police say

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Two men led an officer on a chase late Thursday night through the University of Nebraska-Lincoln campus, police say.

Around 11:45 p.m., an officer tried pulling over a car that had been violating traffic laws near 17th and R Streets.

But police say the driver, an 18-year-old Seward man, didn’t stop.

The driver then hit a curb and drove onto a sidewalk before the car came to a stop near Antelope Valley Parkway and S Street.

Shortly after, the driver and the passenger, an 18-year-old Lincoln man, got out of the car and ran away.

Eventually, officers caught up with the men and took them into custody.

Police say the Seward man had a blood alcohol content of 0.138.

He was arrested on suspicion of fleeing in a motor vehicle to avoid arrest, willful reckless driving, driving under the influence, being a minor in possession, unnecessary noise and obstructing a peace officer.

The Lincoln man was arrested on an outstanding warrant.  Police say he was also cited on suspicion of obstructing a peace officer.
