LPD investigating suspected arson in southeast Lincoln.

Fire Inspector Schmidt concluded the two vehicle fires in the southeast Lincoln neighborhood were arson.

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Lincoln Police are investigating two vehicle fires in a southeast Lincoln neighborhood.

Around 6 a.m. on Monday near the 6200 block of Blackstone Rd., a neighbor alerted a 71-year-old man his van was on fire. The owner of the vehicle found the doors open and a bucket on fire inside the van.

Around 7 a.m. near the 6400 block of Blackstone Rd., a 37-year-old man reported that his truck had fire damage inside the vehicle. The fire had already extinguished itself, according to LPD.

Fire Inspector Schmidt concluded that both vehicle fires were arson.

Lincoln Police say, the van had $800 worth of damages and the truck had an estimated $3,000 worth of damages.

The investigation is ongoing, according to LPD.
