U.S. Cellular donates two deep fryers to People’s City Mission

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — Now we’re cooking.

The People’s City Mission received two new deep fryers on Wednesday, which Pastor Tom Barber said will greatly expand the menu at the homeless shelter.

The fryers were a gift from U.S. Cellular, which also donated food for the mission’s holiday party and canned items for everyday meals.

“When people give us things like fryers, or other kinds of things like that, it makes a big difference because otherwise we have to go spend money to buy them,” Barber said. “And it’s money that we could be using to feed somebody or house somebody or give them a warm bed.”

U.S. Cellular is also holding a food drive for the shelter. You can bring nonperishable food to any of the company’s Lincoln stores, and U.S. Cellular will bring it to the mission.

“I’ve told people, it doesn’t take people giving a lot; it just takes a lot of people giving a little bit,” Barber said.
