LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – A grand jury has indicted a University of Nebraska-Lincoln student on child porn charges.

Court records show Hunter A. Towle is charged with two counts of receiving child porn and two counts of possessing child porn.

Prosecutors said Towle at one point was considered a suspect in an unrelated investigation into someone taking photos of students in UNL dorm showers, and that during the course of the investigation the child porn was discovered on Towle’s devices.

Towle had previously been contacted by law enforcement regarding collecting child porn, according to court records.

“Specifically, the court finds there is substantial evidence supporting the crime charged, and Defendant’s past conduct shows he is either unwilling or unable to comply with an order to cease collecting and sharing child pornography—he collected a substantial cache of images and videos within the four months after his prior collection was seized by law enforcement, he was told to stop collecting child pornography, and he stated he would get professional help,” authorities wrote in court documents.

A judge ordered Towle to be detained.

A trial has been scheduled for April.
