LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — As the demolition of the University of Nebraska-Lincoln’s Piper Hall approaches, the university is preparing the nearby area.

Officials say a construction fence is being built around Piper Hall on Monday.

Fencing is expected to block the walking path between 16th and 17th Streets near S Street during finals week.

The university encourages students and community members to use Vine Street or R Street to cross the block as demolition gets underway.

Piper Hall is expected to be demolished over the winter break, allowing renovations to the Neihardt Center to begin.

The project’s completion is anticipated for the fall of 2024.
