UNL women’s center celebrates International Women’s Day

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — The University of Nebraska-Lincoln Women’s Center hosted an International Women’s Day celebration Thursday afternoon.

The event celebrated Women’s History Month and the dedication of the women involved in the women’s center.

Assistant director of the women’s center, Stephanie Alderson, spoke on the progress that women have made in the university system.

“I always think that Women’s History Month is a wonderful thing for campuses to celebrate because the original university in the United States was not created for women,” she said. “The fact that we have a women’s center, the fact that I have my master’s degree, and the fact that our director has her Ph.D., I think is amazing, and it shows how far we’ve come.”

The university hosts this event every year and plans to continue to encourage education, growth and equality throughout the organization.
