UNMC outdoor ice rink to open for 2021 season

The rink will be open from Saturday through the end of January

OMAHA, Neb. (KLKN) – UNMC’s outdoor ice skating rink will open for the season on Saturday and run until Jan. 30, 2022.

The ice rink is open to the public for $7, the fee includes skate rentals. The rink only accepts cash or credit cards.

Admission is free for members of the med center, Ronald McDonald House employees and guests, and the university community.

The website for the ice rink says masks are optional as the rink and skate rental booth are outside, but asks anyone with COVID-19 symptoms to stay home.

Skaters are allowed to bring food and beverages, but alcohol is prohibited.

The rink will be open from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays, and 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Sundays.

Hours will be extended from Dec. 20 through Jan. 9, 2021, and the rink will close early on Christmas Eve and remain closed on Christmas Day.

According to UNMC if the air temperature is zero degrees or below, the rink will be closed.

The rink is located east of 42nd Street, on the north side of the Sorrell Center in Omaha.
