UPDATE: 17-year-old charged in deadly Lincoln shooting

Lincoln Police believe 17-year-old Markel Steele was responsible for the shooting at 19th and Euclid on April 18, which killed 32-year-old Christopher Coleman at his home. 

He was charged  as an adult with first degree murder along with seven other felonies. 

The shooting also killed Coleman’s boxer Sebastian and paralyzed 21-year-old Jerry Griffis, Jr.  

Several arrests have been made during the course of the investigation.
20-year-old Xheronte Lewis was arrested on April 18 and was charged with aiding and abetting a robbery.
Police said Lewis’ girlfriend, 18-year-old Angelique Fisher, gave they false information. She was arrested on April 27 and was charged with accessory to a felony.

24-year-old Terique Jackson  was arrested earlier this month in Aurora, Colo. on arrest warrants for aiding and abetting as well.

Steele has been in custody at the Lancaster County Youth Services Center since May 5 on unrelated robbery charges.

His other charges include attempted 1st degree murder, robbery, animal cruelty resulting in death and use of a firearm to commit a felony.

LINCOLN, Neb. (AP)  A 17-year-old boy has been accused of shooting to death a Lincoln man and wounding another.        

Lincoln police said Wednesday that the boy will be charged with first-degree murder, attempted murder, robbery and other crimes. Investigators say he fatally shot 32-year-old Christopher Coleman and left 21-year-old Jerry Griffis Jr. paralyzed from his wounds on April 18. The Associated Press generally doesn’t name juveniles accused of crimes.

The boy has been in the custody of juvenile authorities on unrelated robbery charges. Three other people have been charged in connection with the robbery and shootings.
