Nebraska Task Force One has been activated to help as Tropical Storm Florence continues to dump rain on the Carolina’s.

The team is stationed in Fayetteville, North Carolina awaiting orders to help local departments with rescues.

They say rain continues to drench the area and they anticipate doing numerous water rescues over the next several days.

The team will stay in the area as long as their help is needed.

Thirteen Nebraska Army National Guard soldiers and 44 members of Nebraska Task Force One will begin helping people affected by hurricane Florrence.

We heard from Task Force One on Friday morning.

They’ve been hunkered down near Fayetteville, North Carolina, waiting for the deadly conditions to pass before beginning their duties.

North Carolina will dispatch local resources first, and if they are unavailable, they will send Nebraska Task Force One.

The task force will either be doing a water rescue or water evacuation. A water rescue is when somebody is in imminent danger, and evacuation is when the water has just risen and people need to leave.
