Update: 21-year-old facing murder charges after New Year’s Eve homicide

A 21-year-old man is facing murder charges after a Lincoln woman died from stab wounds Monday evening. 

According to a press release from the Lincoln Police Department, Neland Tevionn Gray Jr. was arrested for the crime. 

The woman, who police haven’t identified, was found laying in a driveway near N. 20th and Benton Street around 7:00 p.m. She was taken to the hospital where she later died. 

Police say investigators worked through the night to identify the victim and find the suspect. They are now doing interviews and analyzing forensic and digital evidence. 

Gray is facing charges of first degree murder and use of a deadly weapon to commit a felony. 

Police are expected to release additional details, including the name of the victim, tomorrow morning.
