Update: Search called off for missing 8-year-old girl
Crews responded to a water rescue involving children at Schramm Park State Recreation Area earlier Thursday afternoon.
The search has been called off for an 8-year-old girl who was reported missing earlier Thursday afternoon.
Emergency crews responded to the reported water rescue involving children at Schramm Park State Recreation Area at around 3:00 p.m.
Four of the five kids originally reported missing were accounted for. The fifth one, an 8 year old girl named Tarie was reportedly not wearing a life vest and has still not been found.
The Sarpy County Sheriff’s Office, Yutan Volunteer Fire Department and Fire and Rescue from Waterloo, Springfield, Gretna, and Louisville searched for Tarie with help of the Nebraska State Patrol who brought in helicopters to assist. Several boats combed the waters as well.
Many Nebraskans volunteered to help find the missing girl.
Officials are asking residents in the area to keep an eye out for the 8 year old who was last seen in a white bathing suit.
