USPS employee steals trading cards in the mail and gets caught by selling one on Facebook
LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — On Saturday Aug. 29, Lincoln Police Department (LPD) responded to a delayed report of larceny around 9 p.m.
The victim reported that a package belonging to him had been stolen from the post office.
The package included six high-value football and baseball cards that were valued at almost $46,000. The package was scheduled to be delivered that evening but never arrived.
One of the high-value cards was later found posted for sale on Facebook.
LPD then arranged a time to “purchase” the card from the seller. Undercover officers met with the suspect at WarHorse Casino where Trenton Bogenreif, 30, was taken into custody.
Bogenreif, a USPS employee, was arrested and lodged for theft by unlawful taking of $5,000 or more.
