UPDATE: Vehicle crashes through building, driver ‘momentarily blacked out’

A vehicle crashed through a south Lincoln business Thursday afternoon. 

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – A vehicle crashed through a south Lincoln business Thursday afternoon.

Emergency crews responded to the crash at a strip mall on 2755 Jamie Lane (near 27th & Yankee Hill Rd.) just before 2 p.m.

The driver, identified as a 78-year-old female, drove her 2016 Lexus SUV through the building, damaging suites #1 and #2.

According to officers, the driver said she was pulling into a parking stall and momentarily blacked out. The total structure damage is estimated at $20,000.

Authorities on the scene told Channel 8 Eyewitness News the driver declined medical attention and showed no signs of impairment.

The building was unoccupied at the time of the crash and no injuries have been reported.

The vehicle was removed from the building and towed.

Lincoln Police and Lincoln Fire & Rescue were still on the scene as of 3 p.m.
