Vehicle flips into ravine after crash with semi north of Lincoln

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – A man was taken to the hospital Monday after his vehicle was struck by a semi and landed in a ravine just north of Lincoln.

The crash happened around 3:50 p.m. near the intersection of 70th Street and Waverly Road, which is west of Waverly.

A Toyota Camry was heading north on 70th when it collided with a semi after missing a stop sign at the intersection.

The vehicle rolled into a nearby ravine, which Lancaster County Sheriff’s Sgt. Scott Gaston said was about a 20-foot drop.

First responders had to use “force” to get the man out of the car, which was flipped on its side, Gaston said.

He said the vehicle could have had a tough time stopping because of ice on the roads.

The man was taken to a local hospital with minor injuries, while the semi driver was not injured.
