VIDEO: Rainy weather couldn’t stop Beatrice from celebrating Memorial Day

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — Beatrice community members didn’t let the rain ruin their Memorial Day.

Several residents stood outside the courthouse, holding flags in honor of those we’ve lost.

“The county was not going to put out the flags due to in-climate weather and there’s lots of reasons that people have for making that decision, but regardless me personally and the people that you see behind me and in front of me all feel that the flag should be displayed on Memorial Day,” commented Nate Leach, the event organizer.

People waved their flags as motorists passed, honking their horns in recognition.

Leach also told us what Memorial Day means to him, saying it’s about “taking time to reflect on what we have and why we have it. It’s not about picnics and boat trips and things like that. It’s about the people that died.”
