Kearney volunteer firefighters respond to ‘unprecedented amount of calls’
LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — The Kearney Volunteer Fire Department is thanking members and their families after a historic holiday weekend.
Officials say they were paged 21 times since the early morning hours of Dec. 23.
On Facebook, the department said that’s an “unprecedented amount of calls” over a three-day stretch. It also adds to a record-shattering year.
KVFD says it’s especially difficult for volunteers to leave their families during the holidays.
The department said their unwavering commitment to the community has made everyone proud.
