Update: Two volunteer firefighters remain in the ICU after being struck by a semi Saturday

UPDATE:

Two volunteer firefighters remain in the hospital after a crash Saturday afternoon. 

Firefighters with the Waco Volunteer Fire Department were responding to an accident along Interstate 80 on Saturday afternoon when a semi hit two of their trucks.

The department said that six members were in the trucks that were hit. According to the department’s Facebook post, two were evaluated and did not receive treatment. Four members were taken to a local hospital for evaluation and treatment. Of those four, two were released and the other two were transferred to a trauma unit for treatment. 

The two members transferred to the trauma unit are in the ICU; one has had surgery. Both are in stable condition. 

 


Firefighters with the Waco Volunteer Fire Department (WVFD) were responding to an accident along Interstate 80 on Saturday afternoon when a semi hit two of their trucks.

The WVFD said the incident resulted in several injuries to firefighters.

In a Facebook post, the department said those injured were taken to local hospitals to be treated for their injuries.

The fire department is asking for your thoughts and prayers and reminds people to stay off of the roads.
