Wahoo residents explore all 531 towns in Nebraska, all from the comfort of their car
Seth Varner and Austin Schneider have gone fifteen-hundred miles and officially visiting Lincoln, marks 135 of the 531 towns.
Sitting at home quarantined like the rest of the state, Seth Varner and Austin Schneider thought of an idea.
The Wahoo residents and Nebraska natives who are sophomores at UNO, decided to get out and explore. They would visit every town in the state…all 531 of them.
With COVID–19 concerns, they view most of them from inside the car, only getting out to take a quick picture.
“Tiny towns only have 200 people or so we’ll just drive around and check out like the fire department or anything,” Varner said.
So far they’ve gone fifteen-hundred miles and officially visiting Lincoln, marks 135 of the 531 towns.
They say getting out and exploring, even from a car, helps them get through the pandemic.
“It makes you kind of forget about it really, going out and having fun with friends. It takes your mind off things,” Schneider said.
The goal is to have their adventure complete by the end of August before they go back to school. They hope the pictures they take and the memories they make will show everyone how great Nebraska truly is.
“Our new motto is Nebraska isn’t for everyone but really there’s something to do in everyone one of these small towns. You just have to go out and find it,” Varner said.
