Walmart, Sam’s Club to require customers to wear masks
Walmart and Sam's Club customers will soon be required to wear face coverings, the company announced Wednesday.
Walmart and Sam’s Club customers will soon be required to wear face coverings, the company announced Wednesday.
The company said the requirement will begin Monday, July 20.
Walmart says about 65 percent of its more than 5,000 stores and clubs are located in areas where there is some form of government mandate on face coverings.
“While we’re certainly not the first business to require face coverings, we know this is a simple step everyone can take for their safety and the safety of others in our facilities,” the company said in a statement.
Stores will also have signage at the front of stores, and a “Health Ambassador” stationed near the entrance to remind customers of the new requirements.
At Sam’s Clubs, employees will remind customers of the requirement and complimentary masks will be provided if a shopper doesn’t have one. Masks will also be available for purchase.
“We know it may not be possible for everyone to wear a face covering. Our associates will be trained on those exceptions to help reduce friction for the shopper and make the process as easy as possible for everyone,” the statement said.
