WarHorse Gaming breaks ground on Omaha casino

Wh Omaha Ground Breaking

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Construction on Omaha’s WarHorse Casino is officially underway following Wednesday’s groundbreaking.

“It’s very exciting to have reached this point,” said president and CEO of Ho-Chunk, Inc. Lance Morgan. “But even more exciting knowing what the future holds for Omaha and the state. Nebraskans made their thoughts clear in the 2020 election. Today is a significant milestone in making that happen.”

In the 2020 election, about 65 percent of Nebraskans voted to allow casinos in the state in hopes to keep money within the state.

The groundbreaking kicks off an anticipated 18 months of construction.

Right now, the group plans to have a large portion of the casino available for public use during the second half of 2023.

Omaha’s casino will have more than 1,200 slot machines, 20 table games, sportsbooks, both live and simulcast horse racing, and multiple dining options.

Two weeks ago, the ground was broken on Lincoln’s WarHorse Casino.  Lincoln’s facility will also have a racing track, hotel, dining options and a parking garage.

WarHorse estimates that 440 slot machines will be ready for playing this fall in Lincoln.
