Warm and windy Tuesday forecast 2/8/2022

We are off to another mild start this morning with temperatures in the 30s and wind chill values in the 20s. This warmth will only increase as we head further into the afternoon and wind speeds will increase too. Highs will be similar to yesterday in the low 60s, but northwesterly wind gusts will easily reach around 30 mph by the afternoon. These breezy conditions combined with dry air, raise the concern for fire weather later today. That’s why a Red Flag Warning will go into effect at 11 AM and will remain in effect until 6 PM for a majority of the state. Avoid burning today and report any grass fires if you spot any. Wind speeds calm down overnight tonight and temperatures remain mild in the low 30s. But wind speeds pick right back up during the day tomorrow and they stick around for the rest of the week. On top of the wind, temperatures will be cooler in the low 50s, but technically still above average. A big temperature drop takes us into the weekend with temperatures in the 30s, but we quickly warm back into Valentines Day.
