Warm, dry and breezy today 4/26/2022

Tuesday Morning Weather Update April 26, 2022

Eastern Nebraska is off to a cold start this morning with temperatures below freezing thanks to clear skies overnight. Lincoln tied the low temperature record of 27° set back in 1907 this morning around 1:55 AM! Luckily, all of the sunshine later today will warm us above average into the low 70s for highs. Breezy southerly winds will also help warm us today, but they will pose a threat for fire weather as well. A Red Flag Warning will go into effect at noon for a majority of Nebraska thanks to dry air, breezy winds and warm temperatures. Avoid burning or use of open flames today! Wind speeds relax a bit overnight and temperatures stay mild in the upper 40s. Highs stay warm and above average the next several days in the upper 70s with windy conditions and potentially rain. Rain chances increase as we end off the work week, and this hopefully will help mitigate the fire potential ahead.
