Severe Weather Potential:

After this morning’s storms, another round of showers and thunderstorms will be possible late Thursday and into early Friday morning. A Marginal Risk (Level 1 out of 5) of severe weather is in effect, with isolated severe storms possible. Large hail, damaging winds and localized flooding will be the main concerns in the strongest storms.

Above is what the radar could look like through the day on Thursday and Friday. The latest run of StormCast keeps nightly storm chances in the forecast over the next several days.

A very similar setup will be in place late Friday into early Saturday morning. A Marginal Risk of severe weather remains in place for the southern two-thirds of the state. Large hail, damaging winds and localized flooding will once again be the main concerns.

If that was not enough, a Marginal Risk of severe weather will be in place for late Saturday night into early Sunday morning.

Some areas may see several rounds of heavy rain over the coming days, increasing the risk of flash flooding. Above is a look at the Excessive Rainfall Outlook from the Weather Prediction Center heading into the weekend.

Forecast:

Quite the gradient in temperatures this afternoon across the state as highs will range from the lower 70s to the mid 90s.

We start the day cloudy in Lincoln, though we should see a little more sunshine this afternoon. Warm and humid conditions will continue to be a pain, with highs in the lower 90s.

Eastern Nebraska will see warmer temperatures continue overnight, with our lows in the 70s. Western Nebraska will be in the upper 50s for the start of the day Friday.

Another round of showers and storms cannot be ruled out for the Capital City heading into Friday morning. Overnight temperatures are expected to fall to the lower 70s.

Forecast highs stay in the 80s for the start of the weekend before a cold front moves through late Saturday. Highs will be below average for the start of next week, with small chances of precipitation lingering in the forecast.
