Warm Saturday, but windy through the weekend

The overcast skies we saw for a good part of the afternoon hours on Friday cut off some of the daytime heating for areas off to the northeast. Cloud cover kept some in the upper 50s for a high temperature, while south and southwestern parts of the state that saw sunshine made it into the upper 70s. Lincoln was somewhere in between, still making it to the upper 60s but winds gusting upwards of 35 miles per hour were felt as well.

As for Friday night, it’ll stay breezy through the evening hours before winds become calm after midnight. Wind will stay with us through the weekend, but not as strong. Gusts are still expected to be upwards of 25 miles per hour on Saturday, but we will calm down into the early part of next week.

Saturday will be one of the warmest days we see for a while, with mostly sunny skies and temperatures reaching the low 70s. By mid-afternoon, a cold front will bring back northwesterly winds and cooler temperatures starting Sunday. We’ll stay dry, so other than the wind tomorrow will make for decent tailgating weather.

Skycast Tomorrow

As for any wondering about the weather in Lafayette, Indiana, the weather will be good for a night game. The Nebraska Huskers will kick off as temperatures are in the mid 50s. Winds will be much calmer than back here in our neck of the woods, and skies will be partly cloudy throughout the evening.

At Purdue

As we start to cool down into next week, we could see high temperatures again in just the 50s. With that, the chance for another hard freeze is possible as overnight lows dip into the 20s. It’ll be another dry stretch as well, as precipitation chances are few and far between looking into the next week.
