Warmer, then cooler, then warmer again
While there may be a few lingering clouds in eastern Nebraska early Tuesday, skies will turn sunny for the rest of the day. Tuesday is looking about 10° warmer in Lincoln, with a high near 54°. Areas that still have some snow on the ground may end up stuck in the 40s, but the above-freezing air should help melt off much of the snow.
Despite the abundance of sunshine on Tuesday afternoon, more clouds return on Tuesday night as a cold front moves through. In fact, there may even be a couple of light snow showers in northern Nebraska early Wednesday.
We’ll be cooler on Wednesday behind this front with highs in the 40s, and there will be more clouds to work with. However, that same front lifts back through the area as a warm front on Thursday, pushing highs to near 70°.
In fact, we may even see some thunderstorm development on Thursday night. While a storm or two can’t be ruled out for Lincoln, it still appears that the bulk of the activity will end up in northern Nebraska.
By Friday, we’ll be on the cool side of this system. Temperatures appear to fall through the day, and rain/snow showers will move through the state. Fortunately, the weather appears to quiet down by the weekend.
